Inquisitive Dave sequel

Posted by Paranoia - August 26th, 2019

It's been over a decade since I made Inquisitive Dave for Newgrounds while procrastinating from exams so the time feels just about right for a sequel!

The game itself is pretty ambitious - easily the biggest project I've worked on. I've set up a Twitter account for semi regular updates and will be setting up some sort of dev log when I have more things to show off :p

Newgrounds was a huge part of my learning to program and getting in to making games so I'm excited to be doing something ambitious with one of my old projects. Hopefully a couple of people have been around as long as me and remember the original game :)

The sequel is a C++ project I've been programming on and off for several years. This time a concerted effort is being made to finish it! The game is still a good year away from being in a finished state but if you're interested in it then I'll be providing more details and updates as time goes on :D

Wow was wondering whatever happened to you. Xoxo

Yeah a four year masters degree followed by a four year postgraduate course kind of monopolised all of my time for a while :p

@Luis @Paranoia glad you are well Eddie

this is good news indeed!!! the first game was amazing. it was quirky, atmospheric, and felt like your run of the mill side scroller, but there was a deeper world and story waiting to be explored. cant wait for this, i hope its even better than the first!

oh man, the dave soundtrack came up on my shuffle and it made me go back and check the game out—glad i did! i have such fond memories of the original, it was maybe the first piece of metafiction i really engaged with and i'm so excited to see what happens with this!!

do you have any plans to bundle the original game in with the Steam release of the sequel? i'm assuming if it's any kind of narrative follow-up it'll benefit new players to be able to play the first one, but i dunno how easy it'd be to port like that.

regardless, Ridiculously psyched for this!
